Dr Phil Bluett
BDS London, BSc(Hons) Eng, MSc (Eng), DPDS (Bristol), FCGDent, AFHEA
GDC No. 72271
I qualified as a dentist from Kings College London in 1996, having had a previous career as a Professional Mechanical Engineer. I was awarded a Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies by Bristol University in 2007 and became an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2016.
I have a wide experience and interest in all aspects of general dentistry and particularly enjoy restorative work. I regularly attend postgraduate training courses to stay up-to-date with best practice including minimally invasive restorative techniques.
I am a conscientious, ethical and caring dentist who enjoys doing the very best for my patients. Since 2011 I have been a Clinical Supervisor for final year students at Peninsula Dental School, Plymouth. For 3 years I was a member of the General Dental Council Fitness to Practise Panel. In 2022 I was made a Fellow of the College of General Dentistry.
I enjoy running and have not missed many Plymouth half marathons over the last 22 years

I studied dentistry at Bristol University and graduated with a merit in Oral Surgery and Restorative Dentistry. Since then I have worked in Swansea, Bristol and, mostly, in my home town of Plymouth. I enjoy all aspects of dentistry; especially cosmetic work, prosthodontics (dentures) and root canal treatment. Although it sounds like a cliche, for the most part, I genuinely enjoy caring for my patients and (dare I say it) from seeing them smile.
I grew up in Yealmpton and attended the local primary school and Devonport High School for Girls. I originally read Law at Cambridge University and trained to become a barrister in London. I undertook a Master’s in Environmental Law at University College London and was proud to graduate with distinction. Although I enjoyed pursuing my interests working for human rights and environmental organisations, ultimately I wanted to settle back home and so I followed in my father’s footsteps and retrained as a dentist.

I studied dentistry in Cardiff, qualifying in 2009. Since then I have worked in South Wales, mostly in general practice. But I have also done some time in the Community Dental Service and at the Heath Dental Hospital in Cardiff. I moved to Plymouth recently to be closer to family and to enjoy the sunshine and beaches.
I am very excited to meet more patients from the area and help them with their needs. I enjoy all aspects of dentistry, but particularly restorative work and paediatrics.

I studied Engineering at Cambridge University and previously worked as a Chartered Engineer for Dyson for 9 years – working on everything from hairdryers to electric cars. I have now moved to the area to settle down with my partner and work on our dream of providing a service that gives back to the local community – whilst taking on the new and exciting challenge of helping to run a dental practice.
